ok so my truck is only going to be static dropped and I was wondering how hard it would be to put in a bolt-in notch for a little more clearance. I havent really seen many posts on bolt-in notches and want to know more since I don't have a welder and don't want to cut my bed up.

They don't make bolt-on applications for mazdas...

Only for the chevy.

ive never heard of bolt on ones. u can always get a nice looking cover to put over the c notch and the hole in the bed. i think it looks kewl to paint all the stuff and let everyone else see it. there's prolly lots of people around u wit a welder. just gotta make new friends is all

They make them for mazda's well what I should say is that ultimate made them for mazda's and if you want one I can make one up for you as I still have a set some where in the garage all it will cost is material and shipping I will try and find it some time this week. I have alot of the stuff ultimate use to make.

i wish ultimate was still in business. lol.

there's universal bolt in notches, like the ones on chevy's, i had a set for my mazda, and sold them to a kid with another mazda. it worked perfectly. I'd make a couple passes with a welding machine tho

well my one friend has a welder at his place and id bolt them in and weld it too but i dont want to go with a step notch right now because i dont need near that much clearance and probably wont be bagging it anytime soon.

one last question on the subject......do you have to take off the bed to do this or can they be put in with the bed on?

you may be able to do it but the chances of not lining it up properly with the rear end is high. i would just take the extra time to pull the bed off and make sure your alignment is correct

You can put the notch in with the bed on but it would be easier with it off. I have done it but it is a pain in the ass. Trying to get the drill through to put the bolts in and line everything up plus moving some things around just remove the bed.
