Ya thanks all for the info. One last question is were can I pick up a angle finder. I have seen the, before but I can't remember where.
Also is this nessacary? Or can I just eyeball it and try to get the drive shaft as straight as possible?
Thanks again guys

Your local fab shop or welding shop should sell them or even your local hardware store...

I wouldnt recommend eyeballing anything when it comes to your suspension.. really your driveshaft won't be straight in relation to anything. so definitely pick up an angle finder, they come in handy for other projects also

the one i got a while back is the plastic bright orange magnetic one, bought it at Lowes for about $10.. but have seen them about the same price at Ace Hardware, Home Depot, other local hardware stores for that price or less.

Hey ricky, what about setting pinion angle on a 2 piece driveshaft.

i'd say that it would be the same principle as the one piece d/s,
you would just find the angle from the carrier bearing instead of the
rear of the tranny.

a 2 piece has a lot more involved, check out This Thread where Andy (periportfd) posts the differences in setting pinion with 1 and 2 piece driveshafts. There's more to it than JUST doing equal opposite angle of the carrier bearing, read the parts he posts about operating angles.

Thanks for the thread, there's alot of useful info there. After i read it for an hour i finally figured it out. I have one question though, is all this done at ride height? Thanks for the quick response rick.

Hey ricky, let me see if i got this right. I check my tranny angle, then i set my rear pinion angle equal/opposite to that. Then i check my front shaft angle and compare it to the tranny angle. If it is more than 1/2 degree or less than 3 it is alright. Do i do the same for the rear shaft? Do i compare it to the rear pinion angle to make sure it is more than 1/2 degree but not more than 3?
