ok so i got 7 ultimate... thought it was gunna be another vista where when i bought this computer new i downgraded it to xp after about 3 hrs of fiddlin with vista.. but it is sooooo perfect!! i can run almost every game that i had in xp and vista wouldnt run, compatibilty mode works WAY better than vista, the visual theme setup is way better, the taskbar is WAY better, there is a virtual machine that u can run xp mode for any buisiness apps that may not run in 7(just in case) and i also run ubuntu on sunbox at 3% cpu usage and 25% ram. im just sayin if anyone is weary of upgrading from xp or vista do it right now!! i love xp an all but 7 is alot better than i thought it would be.

feel free to leave your critisism rants or raves. or of you have any questions about it let me know.. btw i am a tech.. not a super tech just a+ so if you guys every have a question let me know

That's cool. I liked XP and I don't mind Vista on my pc. I haven't had any problems with it.

Vista is SUPER slow compared to 7. To get Vista to run good, you have to be a professional geek, and turn off way too much crap.

I run Vista ultimate on my laptop, as soon as I fix the head on my van, and have extra cash kicking about, I will be upgrading to 7 ultimate.

For laptop owners, 7 runs faster, cooler, it extends your battery life by upto 75%. 7 is Netbook friendly, it is backwards compatible with XP SP1, it does a flawless complete upgrade from any OS, unlike XP or Vista where there leave pieces of the previous OS (usually all the bad sht).

My background, I am (retired) but I was a professional geek for 25 years. I owned my own company for 20 of those. I still hold an alphabet soup in Certs.

Chances are your CPU fan isn't Vista friendly. OEM fans are XP designed, to get maximum cooling you need an aftermarket fan. If you are having cooling issues, 7 will help, BUT put any load on your CPU and your fan wont be able to keep up with the demand.

Time for an upgrade, and dont go cheap. My last desktop, I spend $60 on the cpu fan alone.

This is my 8 month old HP DV7-1245dx Laptop I went and got a Cooling pad with 2 fans and that seams to help of course I'm shutting it down at night now. I think for a full time puter I need to pick up another Desktop. of cource My Wife has the exact same computer and she don't have any issues?

OH laptop, I was thinking it was a desktop..

MOST laptops have garbage fans, and dont provide adequate cooling, my toshiba has the same issues, and I have to use a cooling pad as well.
