Good to hear man, When you do get out West and you get your License (Class 1 I assume) drop me a line, I have a good friend that runs a small trucking firm in Calgary, and I could at least try to put a bug in his ear for ya.
I'm just going for my Class 3 so I can drive like straight trucks and dump trucks and stuff, or may upgrade to my class 4 so I can drive like shuttle vans/buses and stuff. Don't plan on driving rigs, but I'll have my 3Q minimum when I get out there. And its looking probably around August for my ETA now.
But if he's got any class 3 positions that would be cool. I have a week off of work in March and a week in April, so I think I might take those 2 weeks to do my driver training, because I don't know how long my medical check is good for and it just cost me $125, and I still need to write my airbrake test before I can begin driver training which takes 2 weeks.
My to do list for my truck repairs is also growing and getting more expensive lol.
The truck is still registered under my dad and the reg. sticker expires in June. I think in June, I will transfer the truck into my name, but that requires me to get it safetied and emission tested.
So far my to do list to make it pass safety entails:
-Front brake rotors (warped from those effing steel Cragars)
-Replace windshield (cracked all the way across from pillar to pillar)
-Replace passenger side fog light plug/pig tail (Going to do that in the next couple days)
-Fix driver's side tail light harness because the reverse light doesn't work, but the bulb isn't blown
-Replace driver's side leaf shackle. It's cracked and almost broken. I'm getting a set of 2.5" shackles from a guy on the Ranger Forum so I can do a 2.5" lift. Always gotta upgrade when you replace broken stuff, right?
Might upgrade the front rotors and pads too, since I'm running slightly bigger and heavier wheels than stock.
ALl the big stuff has been fixed. Clutch and slave have been replaced back in November, and the rear brakes were also done, fluids were all changed as well as the spark plugs and I have new tires. Between October and December I spent $2800 in repairs. Ouch. And I still get 17mpg hwy. 4.0L FTL! I miss B2200 mpg's!!
congrats on the job Mikey.U still need to come South man.Not only is VW building an assembly plant in Chattanooga, just announced today a 1bil semiconducter plant in Charleston TN about 25 minutes away.expecting to need about 4-5000 workers when both plants are up.there aint that many peeps here without jobs currently.lol.bj
It's tempting no doubt, but we've already been through the immigration & green card conversation before.
I'm pretty sure my girlfriend would love to move there too, but she's stuck in university in Calgary for 3 more years. Though I'm pretty sure once she is done, it'll be super easy for her to find a nursing job wherever she wishes.
I don't see us moving outside of Alberta though, since we already have a house out there and everything, so we're all set once I move out there.
