yes, our economy sucks, but did you do it has less and less to do with us that yours is going down? in order for a company.. let's say Kraft Foods.. to sell to canada, they must first have a manufacturing plant in canada, and have canadian employees. how is it that we are ruining your financial situation?
everyone blames everyone else for the economy crisis, but it's our fault. i personally have never had a loan, but there's people that got a loan for a car, and knew before they got it they were going to declare bankruptcy. it happens all the time, and now businesses are closing, banks are closing.. never really thought it would come down this hard, but it did.
we need to get bush out of office (FINALLY!) and.. as much as i don't enjoy the thought of it, put obama in. john mccain wants to save the rich people, and the rich businesses.. obama wants to help the younger generation, and try to save the economy. if you ask me, we should do what sweden did years ago.. turn the debt into equity and bring the economy back up.
i do not like obama's background, his church, or his many points of view.. and i do not like mccain because he wants to help the rich.. but i know i will be paying more attention to who really wants to fix the economy, and that's who will get my vote.
I work in a factory and we make auto parts and hoses and its bad enought they let all the temps go and give you any day off you want just to cut costs. They have been cuttin corners left and right and i dont think the economy is gonna get any better any time soon.
I'm a cook and nobody can afford to go out for food anymore. I've gone from 45 hous a week to about 32. I can't even pay off my Mazda! Mine isn't even on the road yet! First I figure late August. Then September. Now early November and my damn car taxes are late now so I have to pay them first to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^&*^%^&*%&%*^&&^&*(%^$*&*&(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The entire temp thing is a joke in itself. It's legalized slavery. Why should you make $10/hr and bust your ass while Dogfukk Joe beside you makes $24/hr and sits on his lazy ass all day and complains about his job. The entire thing rubs me the wrong way. I worked at JCI for 2 years as a temp for $10/hr waiting to get hired on. They wanted to hire me,but had a hiring freeze for a year and a half due to union negotiations,as the CAW was trying to get into our plant, yet JCI kept voting against having a union. So after 22 months as a temp,I finally got let go in a 2 stage layoff, just before Christmas 2006. In the first stage of the layoff in November, about 35 temps were layed off. Later,in December, 60 full time employees were layed off.
Fast foward to February of this year and I was looking for employment again and I got back into JCI again as a temp. This lasted for a month before they cancelled the midnight shift,so all the temps and everyone with less than 3 years seniority was layed off and they went down to 2 shifts. Now,the plant is in jeopardy of closing, or changing ownership,as Chrysler did not renew their contract with JCI for 2009. If this plant does not find a new contract, they will close down, putting about 350 people out of work. If they do find a new contract, it may be through Leer or TS Tech or another seat manufacturing company, but will come at the expense of wage cuts.
This is not good, because the factory is in a town of about 25 000,and is one of,if not the largest employers in the area. Where I work now, we build the seats for the Honda Civic coupe and Acura MDX. The Civic production is going full steam ahead and we're working like 6:30am-4:30pm to built around 400 a day. Last month,Honda cut production on the MDX due to lagging sales,so they layed off 3/4 of the staff at our seating plant, and went from building about 320 a day to 30 to 90 a day and are usually finished by lunch time. About 150 people were affected by this layoff, which again, all the temps were let go,and everyone with low seniority. It's temporary for 3 months, then they will go back to higher production before the new year. Unfortunately at the same time, there are talks that the contract may not be renewed with this plant and the plce will shut down and move elsewhere, putting 300ish people out of a job. This plant is in an even smaller town of about 7000,which is where I live, and they are the 2nd biggest employer in town out of 3 large factories. If they close town,a large portion of the community is jobless, which is sad, considering how int he last 8 years the town has doubled in size, however the increase in population has not brought any new job opportunities with it.
So yeah, things are looking pretty bleak here.
Also, one of the companies I worked for last year recently went banrupt this year and closed down, putting around 200 people out of work, and I was layed off my from my awesome job early this year, where I was making $18/hr and actually making a good living and thought I had it made getting into this company. Well, they cut an entire shift, and I got knocked out of the seniority list by 2 weeks so I got fkked and lost my job.
I bought a Cadillac Catera for $5700 a year ago this month.Long story short, had major problems with it,could not afford to spend $3000 to fix it,so I sold it for $1200....I have not owned the car since July, yet I still owe $3800 on my loan for a car that I don't have.
There's a hell of a lot of red tape to get around for immigrating into the US. I'm not even legally eligible to immigrate right now unless I'm sponsored by an existing American, because in the last couple years,Canada has had more than 50 000 people immigrate to the US,so we're cut off for a couple years,as are a number of other countries.
yeah it pissed me off they got rid of them, half of them worked harder than their boss, and had been workin there for months.
exactly. they get shit on,disrespected, fired for missing like 1 or 2 days, work harder for less pay,no benefits...
yet you're doing the same damn job as everyone else. They need to make a agreement that you can be a temp for no longer than 3 months. That is your probation period. If after the 3 months they want to keep you, they must hire you with no questions asked,or they get rid of you and bring in another temp for 3 months. The agency makes their money off you for the 3 months you work for them,so if the company you work at doesn't want to hire you, they can you after the 3 months and bring in someone else, and the agency makes money on someone else. It's a win win situation for the temp agencies. They must make a killing on suckers like us. Companies love us because they don't have to put us on the payroll or pay us benefits, which is a significant cost saving measure for them.
we got alot of the same bullsh*t down here man..i know many people that work 39 hours a week so they can't get benefits and eventually get screwed and laid off....a buddy of mine went from 20+ years of professional body work to an licensed electrical tech because of the pay increase and he just got laid off..he just bought a house and had two kids..he is getting unemployment but it is barely enough to support his family....idk what we can do as single people but population as a whole needs to grow a new pair of balls and speak up again...what ever happen to the "great presidents??"...presidents that were elected because of the good they have ALREADY done for our country...and what happened to great presidents like for instance..lincoln??...he was not corrupted in politics at all..just a normal guy like us trying to survive and getting pissed enough to make some change for the better...our country has gone to sh*t since bush got in office...starting a war that the had NO exit stratigy(sp) for and knew we were not gonna be able to get out of.........all that because his father was smart and pulled out right when he knew there was nothing else to be done without being where we are now......i want my friends to come home..not be transported home in big ziplocks!!...it's just one excuse after another...i wish we were born in a time where i could walk up to the white house and be heard......................................
unfortunately polictics is no longer about politics and the people. It's a money driven business and that's about it.
GWB hasn't done a single thing good for America, let alone the rest of the world. Of all the presidents ever assissinated,he's the only one that hasn't been and woul dhave been the only one worth doing to.
