Yah its the same thing in quad racing. Whoever has put more money into there machines ends up with something way faster and they usually win. Its hard to compete with stuff like that.

But good luck with it and I hope you and your daughter have a good time with it.

Funny this topic came up. Here is a link to my godson from sunday racing his cart down in Or.

He is only 6 years old. His dad was my crew chief for many years and tanner went to his first race when he was only 9 days old and been there for the last 6 years. After crewing on my car for years he now has all his kids racing carts and he has one also.

hey ryan ive been out of kart racing for about 4 years now. i actually have a .2 of a mile dirt track in my back yard. they are an absolute blast and is a great learning experience for your daughter. I learned everything i know about driving from racing them when i was younger. And not sounding cocky but i like to believe racing prepared me for just about any possibility that could come up while im out on the road. i think that i can handle it and get out the safest way possible. If you plan on her doing well then it does take dedication to learning the kart and the sport and lots and lots of money. The money issue is why i no longer race. If it wasnt for money i would be out there every single week doing it because i love the hell out of it.

but goodluck with and i hope your daughter enjoys the hell out of it.

thats really good to hear. ive been racin karts since i was 10 and it really helped shape me into who i am today. i have been into it really seriously until lately because of money. ive been to nationals and raced for red bull in their F1 driver search. now ill race once and a while or do an autocross but last year i took my 13yo sister out to practice a lot and coach her and setup the kart. which paid off, she won the championship. it also really helped my brother-sister bond which was nonexistint before.

one thing i would recommend to you is try to get her involved in more than just being a driver. she still might be pretty young for this but try to get her to turn some wrenches eventully and try to teach her what the different changes to the suspension do and what not. i immediately started wrenching on my kart when i was 10 and by 12 i didnt realy let my dad work on my kart because if something went wrong, i wanted it to be my fault so i couldnt blame anyone else. i also went around finding sponserships by myself since then. it also really kept me out of trouble too. while my friends were out late at underage partys, i was out late in the garage gettin ready for the race the next day.
good luck with everything and hopefully shell really stick with it

heres my kart sideways at an autocross. its got about 44hp with a 6-speed. it hauls.

yeah, she has been turning wrenches with me since she could hold a wrench. i have a picture somewhere of when she was 2. i was changing the oil on our car and she was acting like she was helping. haha. i had a little go kart that me and my brothers drove around the neighborhood when we were kids and i know for sure it helps. i think she will love it and the best part is i don't have to pay for anything. haha. it's a good thing to cause my ass is broke most of the time. hahaha. thanks for all the kind words guys. i really think she is going to have a blast.
