And this is why I am going to do it anyways <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" />

Fuel door is gonna go here:

Smoke Stack:

And the stack from the rear:

I am going to put a skin of some flavor between the bed and the cab, either one that is contoured to the body with a flat top (and a hole for the stack) or just a flat piece of metal, undecided on how much work I wanna put into it.
The best part? I don't need to relocate the mounts for this to work! Just need to shift the holes on the middle mounts a half inch to the rear, and weld on a frame extension on the back for the rear bed mounts and bumper (if I go with a bumper, still deciding.)
Advantage, I will no longer need to remove the bed in it's entirety (or drop the tank) to fix the fuel sender in the tank, it's exposed right there. I could in theory use the original fuel door that would have been on this bed, except I already welded it shut on this one (when it was to be the trailer.)
Another advantage, I can also put an air tank back here, out of sight, if I ever decide to bag this truck.
These pics also show what the truck looks like with the lift shackles on a regular bed. Nice lift, eh?

I think you need to get a bed side and extend the sides so you don't see the gap there.......it's not gonna look good like that. You could still leave the front panel of the bed where it is at so you will have the space between the bed and cab.....maybe put a removable cover there with a hole for the stack......but make the sides of the bed run to within an 1&quot; of the cab, just like a regular setup is.
It would look better that way, I think.

hmmmm. it will be different for sure. why not. cut the frame down use the single cab bedand build the filler neck into the bed all sheetmetaled and pretty and cut the stack down to where its 6 inchesd out of the bed?. that wouldnt look bad imo

Hey EmJay, a little off topic here but.......SinCityLocal used a regular cab bed on his extended cab truck......I think he cut the frame and extended it so the rear wheels were located properly in it's wheel well openings. It looks good that way really.

I guess you can say I extended the frame, but really, I used the front half of the cab plus frame, and the back half of the standard cab frame to take advantage of the longer bed.
Plus, I wanted the wheel wells centered in the bed sides.

I would trade my eye teeth for a long bed, if I could find one local!

Cliff, I was planning on filling the gap in the side. I wasn't planning on using pieces from another bed, but making my own skin. Either weld it to the bed, or make it removable.

Hunter, I have no intentions on cutting this frame, I am trying to avoid that if at all possible (until bags anyways, IF I go that route.)

All, I believe that I am going to ditch the idea of the stack, for now anyways. It's hard to describe my plans for what I am doing, especially since I don't know for a fact WHAT I will be doing (lol)

i would be intrested to see that bed slid up flush, n move axle laid out. My roommate keeps telling me to cut my bed like the aussie quadcab oem beds when i got to bag n body mine.
