i use the cheap stuff at walmart. as long as your changing it out, shouldnt amtter what you run in it. when i put my rebuilt in a ran castrol, cant remember which. it turned black just like the cheaper stuff.

Any oil provides essential lubrication, but make sure that you use an oil that is application specific!
Oils formulated for diesel engines should not be used in gasoline engines, and vice-versa.
Diesel oils have a higher concentration of detergent additives, which will break down faster in a gasoline engine, because of higher operating temps.
This breakdown causes a build up of sludge that will kill your engine.
If you use an oil that was designed for a gas engine, in a diesel, you'll be missing essential cleaning agents that combat crud in an inherently dirty operating environment.
Of course, you still have to mind maintenance intervals!
