have you checked to see what a local tow company would charge you versus what the uhaul would cost plus your time and trouble. I would tell them what your doing and they might even give you a break on it.

ouch its only like 50 here for around town up to a certain distance. Working at a body shop one of the tow companys that we use all the time will do personal tows for me for nothing so if I dont feel like putting my truck on the car trailer for what ever reason they take care of it.

oh and even if it is 85 what if it took you 3 hours and the cost and hassle of loading it on a uhaul and worse case broke something on the truck was it really worth it. I always figure the cost of my time into things which i always put at 20 an hour. just the way I think though but i get that from being commision at work

please just make sure its in neutral before you tow it. nothing worse than blowing your tranny while towing it. happened with a friends mustang a few years ago cause he's a dumbass. thats all i have to say.

dont tow by the front! rear only, read the owners manual
i blew up a rear end when i broke down on the highway,
the stupid tow truck driver picked it up from the front and told me he was going to get it off the highway and flip it around, so i left with my dad and let the tow truck go to the shop, well when i called the shop he told me he came in pull from the front, after the fuel pump was replaced, i drove it off the lot and BANG! blew out the spider gears in the rear, there goes 600$ and the tow company wouldnt pay, so i got my money back in another way

Without reading ANY further that this post. . . and in looking ONLY at this post. . . I cannot answer this question easily.

IF you have a manual transmission, then it will freewheel fine in neutral.

IF you have an automatic, 50 miles in neutral will burn up the transmission.

Unless you pull the driveshaft.
