Ok. so tuesday the mazda goes to my school so i can work on it next semester. I need to know how you guys tow these things. I dont have a flat bed so i was thinking about renting a dolly from u-haul. but then do i just remove the driveshaft and run the front wheels on the dolly, or do i just throw the rear up and call it a day. can i get away with just the steering column lock or is there something else i should to to lock the steering?

no further than your pullin it id just get the dolly and put the front on it and get your tow on. i wouldnt drop the driveshaft. put it in neutral and pull it.

Put the rear wheels up on the dolly and lock the steering with the wheels straight and wrap your seatbelt around the steering wheel like so:
Towing it with the rear wheels on the ground with the tranny in neutral will not cause any harm either.

I say drive/push the front tires on the two wheel dolly...throw her in neutral...call it a day. I have towed trucks this way for 100+miles..you aren't going to be doing 120mph so you should be ok.
Mikey---nice use of a seat belt.thumbs up!

lol at the seatbelt. ok i think that makes things easier. anyone know if i need a battery in it to put it in neutral?

i towed my last truck 75+ miles with the front wheels on a dolly without pulling the drive shaft at 55mph, it worked just fine.
just put the truck in neutral and tow away!!

Nope no battery required. Keys are though if it is an automatic.

ive towed mine on a two wheel dolly with the trans in netural at nearly 70mph for close to 30 miles on the interstate with no problems at all.... make sure you use the straps and saftey chains on the dolly correctly, wouldnt' wanna lose ya vehicle at any rate of speed......
