okay went and bought aerostar/b2300 hub/rotors today and they FAIL!!! the book and computer shows them accepting the mazda inner bearing but does not fit. not sure if the part is correct in the box or what. also the hub section of the unit is set outwards about a 1/4" too much for the seal to ever make it to the right section of the spindle. not to mention this make the rotor butted up to the spindle assembly.

I did see one of these hubs at the junk yard that looked like the hub was set inward more, but it was well past it's life and I wouldn't use it. The bad thing is that the parts stores show the same number for all rwd aerostars, 2wd ranger, and all 94 B series 2wd.

So I'm now perusing a different venture. I am going to the divorced hub/rotor idea and see what I get for results

i had pulled an aerostar hub/rotor off the shelf and compared it to a mazda rotor and they almost match. the mazda bearings wouldnt fit without machining the hub to accept the mazda bearings. i had an extra set of spindles but didnt slide them on to check the placement of the hub on the spindle. when you told me bout the b2300 i looked into it today and seen where it is the exact same part as the aerostar and uses the same bearings too.

yeah I don't know how they have ever been used, the ones I picked up the rotor offset from the end of the hub wont allow it to fully seat on the spindle. I'm done with trying the ford hub crap....lol

I have a set of hubs that are 5x4.5 already. I am taking over to my friends milling machine and taking a 1/4" off the face(were the dust cap mounts) and bore the outer bearing race seat down 5/8" of a inch further into the hub. then I will be done, go find a set of rotors (looks like 90's 626's might work) and the front is 5 lugged.

I'm done wasting time looking for a straight up bolt on conversion. with any luck I'll have time to get the hubs turned next weekend.

Okay I took these first hubs back to NAPA today and told them how the bearing that is supposed fit doesn't. They got to looking and found another part number the pic looks a little different and the overall height is different.

These so up tuesday so maybe these will be the ticket. If not they go back and I'll put the money towards another venture at 5 lugs.

Okay the new rotor they got in today was a loss as well, no difference from the ones I bought saturday.

Maybe some one that has played with the areostars will chime in, I thought these were the style, but I have yet to find a bearing to go between, and if it would it would seam to be very thin. And then the problem of them not rubbing the spindle assembly once fully seated.

for now I will still press forward with the 5 lug swap, just going to be a machine job

that's kind of a bummer that they don't work.

yeah, tell me about it. I still wish I knew the secret combo cause I tried the best that I could and couldn't make it happen.
