Don't let ti sit in the gel, just dip it when its hot. Then when you come next time it will have applied itself properly.

Try it without the liner and see what happens. But DO NOT try to weld. Also turn the gas down to about 20, and maybe replace the O-rings. On my Miller it fits pretty snug, but if the O-rings aren't on it its very loose.

Maztang,
Open the little door on the side of the welder. On the side where the torch attaches you'll see a little setscrew where the torch passes through the side of the welder. Crank it down I'll take a pic when I get home.

yeah, i pulled it all apart and put it back together and tightened it down a bit. it seems to be staying in now but now my problem is the damn wire feed not wanting to feed. it pulsates and pisses me off. i think i just need to take it to get repaired but i have to get ready for texmex and have to deal with the problems for now.

mine was doing the same thing once upon a time, but it was after I put a new spool of wire on, make sure the wing nuts on the rollers & the spool holder aren't too tight or loose, this will cause the wire to slip or pulsate, also, make sure the tip is clean inside & out, if you happen to burn too close, the tip will get hot & warp the hole that the wire comes out of in the tip, this will cause the wire to bind during normal expansion & contraction from the heating & cooling cycles, even if it is clean, the tip may be warn & warped from normal use & needing replacement.....if that doesn't fix it, the contactor that kicks in the spool wheel is probably in need of cleaning, but I think that requires tearing into the welder, which if you do so will void the warranty...hope that helps boss.

yeah man, i change the tips all the time. way more than i probably need to. and i am constantly changing the wingnut to see if that fixes it and it never does. it's wierd though because the wheel will spin but the wire will not feed. i try tightening and loosening the tention on the wire (the gear that actually grabs the wire and feeds it) but that doesn't help either. between the welder and my 89 screwing up i will never get the 83 ready. haha. yeah right, screw the 89 i got to get the 83 back on the road. haha.

How is the bushing the leads the wire into the liner? Sometimes those get grooves into them and make it hard for the wire to feed. Its like a $2 part.
