Well, I dunno if I'm going to get serious about this or not still. I know that I probably will not be able to tuck my wheels on my ride when it gets bagged. If they do, I'll probably still just use them as winter wheels.
I believe I know what I want as far as wheels and tires.
17" wheels is as big as you can go before you have to mod, right? Or just as long as the wheels I want is the same OD as the ones I have now? Say like 18's but a small tire to match the OD as my current wheels? Or does a bigger rim affect anything?
Anywho, if 17's are the biggest I can go without doing anything to the mazda, I wanna get them wrapped in 175/65's. Its the closest I could come to being stock speed so I don't have to recailbrate my speedo.
I dunno how big that tire is, but I certainly cant find anyone who has them!
As for rim, 17 inch and 7" wide, I dunno about the offset or backspacing, etc.
I know that I wanna get 5 spoke rims atleast, lol... I saw some today at Les Schwab that came off a vet and damn they were nice!
So if anyone has any idea to all this, please, give me a heads up!
205/50/17 is the closest to stock diameter you will find,but I recommend a 205/40/17 tire. Your speedo will only be off a couple mph,and the truck will ride and handle way better.
Just watch out if you use drop spindles. Depending on the rim,they'll push your rims out about half an inch or so. When I had my Escalade rims and we put the spindles on,it pushed my rims way out and I was rubbing them on the insides of my 2wd fenders while driving straight,so I had to get 4x4 fenders and even cut the inside lip out of them,but that was all because of the backspacing of those rims.
Btw,a 175/65/17 tire would look absolutely retarded. I dont think they even make that size. 205/75/14 is a difficult overall diameter to match at 26.1"
If you go with really big rims,like 18"+, you'll probably have to cut out your front fender wells to be able to fully lay out. Same with the bed,you'll have to cut the fender wells too if you want to fully tuck,otherwise you'll slam the truck down,but your wheel wells will rest ontop of your tires preventing you from fully laying out.
well for offsets/backspacing, here's a starting point:
7" wide = +32 offset/5.25 BS
7.5" = +40 offset/5.75 BS
8" = +47 offset/6.25 BS
8.5" = +54 offset/ 6.75 BS
as for tires for a 17" rim, i usually see 205/40R17, but a 205/50R17 is closer to stock.
you should be able to lay with an 18" wheel with all stock components though.
Referencing off of this site, 195/60/17 is only .2 MPH off from stock. That the closest I can come to stock size.
So, I think that very well may be my tire of choice when time comes for a tire! Question is how common it is and/or if the size is available? I wonder what it would look like? My tires on my truck now have a balloon effect on it, do you think 15mm less sidewall height will keep it from ballooning?
I do not plan on using drop spindles, maybe flip the ball joints, but I dunno what that would change in terms of baggin and laying frame as well as the wheels.
So mikey, you're saying 17" is the biggest I can go before I gotta start cutting, right? I would like to tuck these but still lay frame! Without cutting out the inner fender, is it possible?
Well, I appreciate the feedback guys, time to go search for some 5 spokers to post up for some opinions!

I can't remember where I saw it, but there was a mini-truck site that had a flat black chevy truck with some 5 spoke rims at the top of the page... Ugh. They were simple but freakin' sweet!
Well what do you guys think with my ideas on a rim?
I can get more pics, but one day there will be that one that just makes me drool!
5 lug? thats what i did so i can run a fwd offset easy to find and thay tuck
why are you so adamant about being the exact same tire diamater? Not only would those tires look retarded as hell,because they would look like pizza cutters with a huge sidewall, they would probably ride and handle like ass too.
Without drop spindles you wont have any problems tucking.
well,if you look at CiD's truck,he runs 16s and he's got his fender wells cut out.
If you don't want to cut your truck and modify stuff then don't even bother bagging it.
when i bagged mine i had 195/60/14" on my truck and still rubbed fender wells when layed out but static drapped w/ no bump stops i had 18"s with 205/35 and it would only hit at full to 3/4 turn
Well, I think I must revise my criteria. If I want things to look nice, I'm gonna have to go to a bigger rim. That'll help me look proportional and still have the ability to match stock speedometer.
I'm willing to modify and cut, etc. to bag, but I figured I may have been able to get away from cutting the fenderwells. If it comes to doing so, well, so be it!
I'm gonna have to check up on what it takes for 20's... lol
