That is close to the add for the truck i bought my son. He said it had no comp and wouldnt even drive up on the trailer. So we get it home and start it up and it took all it had to get upto 2500 rpm...so i started looking over stuff i pull the plugs and hook the wires back up with them on the valve cover and they had very weak spark... Cleaned them up real good put them back in and BAM ran sweet. The plugs had tons of oil so im pulling the motor anyway but ill bet i could get a few more miles with some hotter plug and driving it hard

new here but here are my thoughts.... even at $500 and if you HAD to....what could you pick up a motor for from a salvage yard? I bought a 92 DA Integra with a bad motor for $400, picked up a motor from a junk yard for $400, 90 day warranty against leaking, smoking or knocking...they compression tested, did a leak down test, etc. Granted....your looking at swapping the motor yourself which is a job but not a nightmare....GOT TO BE EASIER THAN THE INTEGRA! LOL This also gives you a good opportunity for new clutch, pressure plate ( lighter flywheel if it matters to you )...you could always install new main seals.....stuff like that. Idk.....just an idea ASSUMING the engine did end up being bad.

That is a good point. Even at $500 a bad motor...so you got to get another motor $500, weber $300, Header $100. Now you are into a damn good running daily that just happens to be a wonderful mazda truck for $1400. Still not too shabby.
