ok, so another example of the most obvious thing probably is the thing causing the trouble.... thought i might need a new tranny, when i shifted gears i'd get a really loud clink, and starting out i'd get a really bad metal on metal squeel, then a jerk and i'd be off, with the squeel dying off around 30 mph.... for some silly reason i was thinking that it might be the trans, due to the fact that i didn't know how the previous owner treated it, and that the clutch is doing what clutches tend to do before they die... grgrgrgrgrgrgrgrggrweeeeeeeiiiii, you know the sound... anyway, so i decide yesterday, i was gonna hunt down the problem... as i got to thinking about how a trans actually works in relation to the driveshaft and the rear diff, i thought, maybe i should just check the u-joints before i even really look for a newer trans... well guess what....

you get the picture... well here's how my day went.... i got up around 10. did the normal morning routine.. then decided to get to work on the drive shaft , this was about 1130(i.e. removal, removal of the u-joint, installation of new etc...) well i was figuring if it took as long as it did to get the joint out of my dodge, i might not make it to work in my pickup... so i was prepared to ride my motorcycle. until about the time i got the shaft out of the truck, it started to pour, and i mean that in the biblical sence...lol.... needless to say i was soaked in about less than a minute, and beating the crap outta that damned shaft trying to get the joint out... i got it completely removed from the shaft at around 1230 (yeah i was kinda takin' my time too)... damn thing took forever considering that it would probably have come out so much easier at 60 mph....lol thank God that didn't happen. got the whole thing back in by around 130 and so thank God i didn't have to ride the bike to work in that rain.....nothin worse then big big drops of rain at 60 mph and no fullface helmet..lol

Yeah, no prob. I'm really just glad I didn't end up replacing it on the side of the road, I still can't believe the thing held in the condition it's in.
