Welcome to the scene bro! $350 is a good buy, have fun building it!
welcome to the scene bro.
Thanks for the welcome guys. I've looked around and I've been impressed with this site, there isn't an abundance of ego and trash talking like you get with most Honda sites. Misinformation is also a problem sometimes, but I don't know these trucks well enough to spot it if it's there.
Anyway, I think I've decided that my Mazda will eventually get airbags and probably some 18" chrome wheels, but that is neither near-term nor priority. I'm not so sure that I want to go as far as body dropping and shaving and suicide doors and all that, but I know myself well enough to know that I'll want some power in the thing, and if I can have a rig for towing in a pinch that would be killer. Tentatively I am saying SBC swap, I don't think I'd want to bother with an EFI conversion. We will see how it goes over the next year or two, I'll stick around.
welcome to the site and great buy on the truck... the blown head gasket is expected... most of the guys on here will tell you that they either had to replace it after purchase or shortly after owning.... also loving the crx man looks like a "real project" not just some bolt on parts like alot of the "tuners" out there .... whats the plans for the truck other then getting it daily worthy?
For now I just want to get it running reliably, get a budget stereo in it ($99 Best Buy special or something) and drive it. I'll be doing the head gasket this weekend and I think I'll do the timing belt and water pump too since it's at 176k miles. I'll probably pick up some wheels for the spring/summer, I'm leaning toward 18s. I will probably do a mild static drop since it's so cheap and simple. Under the "eventually" column, I want airbags, a SBC swap with a T5 and probably a Toyota rear end with limited slip. I'll also have to do something about the bench seat.
what to rid the bench? man if you was closer... id trade ya for ex cab buckets....
Welcome to the site Jeff...That is such a great name. Good looking crx I like the tuner instead of ricer look. It does sound like a the typical head gasket. Stock or modified you are always welcome here and will find tons of help, parts, and hopefully friends.
