Figured I should actually post something... I've been lurking here for two weeks, since I grabbed an 87 B2000 off a local kid. I picked it up like this:

As of right now, it looks like this:

I still need to cut and buff... And pull the hydraulics out of it. It will be bagged soon enough - hydraulics SUCK.

Yeah, I saw the kid who owned it before me was posting on here... Interesting to see the past history of issues with it. Wish I could say he was forthcoming with that kind of stuff, LOL. Buying a used vehicle is always interesting.

I think I have the hydraulics sold... So I can start ordering the parts needed to bag it. First goal is to get rid of the monoleaf and do a 4 link.

Lots of little stuff to mess with on this truck... Mostly fixing all of the stuff that was screwed up in the past. Like replacing a lot of wiring that was rigged with speaker wire!!

As much as I would like this truck to be my daily driver, it's going to take a little while!

I'll toss up some more pics of my Bug later... I'm a hard core aircooled VW guy - I own a 56 Beetle, 64 ragtop Beetle, and a 65 RHD ragtop beetle. I'm in the process of putting together a turbo motor for the 65 RHD right now.

I'm in Belleville, IL... Just across the river from STL. The truck came from Ofallon, MO - it was an INTERESTING 60 miles home in it - no muffler, no plates, right front corner keeps dropping (probably a bad check valve). The bed was not bolted on, the fuel cell was sitting loose in the unbolted bed, and the four batteries for the hydraulics were sitting loose in the battery "bucket" as well. I used a plethora of ratchet straps to hold everything in place, and gave 'er hell.

Painted the truck in my driveway, in the Harbor Freight portable garage. The paint is a cheap single stage urethane. It will look good buffed out and reassembled!

Other minor tasks finished up - reconnected the return fuel line (yes, it IS necessary!), pulled the computer and removed unnecessary wiring that was rubbing on the pass. front tire, chopped up, modified, welded the front bumper brackets to get the toyota bumper fitting a little bit better (still some work to do there), and fixed all the leaks in the hydraulics.

As soon as my bolt of tweed arrives, we will be doing custom tweed door panels, headliner, and panel behind the seats. Probably will just dye the carpet so I don't have to replace it... Wife wants to recover the seats, but I think it needs different seats altogether.

This is my first minitruck - although I've wanted one for years. I'm learning a lot, and having fun. Thanks for the warm welcome!

COOL!

I'm in Mt. Vernon. 'bout 45 minutes southeast of you. I might just have to pick your brain on some VW stuff as I own a '63 Karmann Ghia. I've had it since I was 18 (which is a long time ago LOL) and have had the itch to get it out and start working on it. If you need any help locating parts in the area I know a few guys, so hit me up. Welcome!
