6x9 jbl gto938 88 Mazda b2200 Se5 standard cab

Was thinking about fabricating spacers and mounting them behind the seat where the stock 4 inch speakers would go but down below the stock plate.. ideas before I start drilling holes and cutting the cab of the truck up. I've had several people tell me it would be aTenny sound some have said not sure...
