i sprayed my car with Refinish Solutions(cheap) urethane clear. it didnt turn out very glossy but i think its because i didnt get enough coats on.
Am i wasting my time with cheaper clearcoats? or are there some good brands that are cheaper than HOK? i have had good luck with cheap brands on motorcycles and speaker boxes but never tried HOK.
also when i go to reclear, is 1000 grit too fine to spray on? im afraid if i use 600 or 800 i may sand through.

1500 is usually what we use when re clearing. look into NASON(duponts "cheap" brand) its around 100 bux a gallon with activator. we use it at work.

Everywhere that sells it online says they can only sale Nason in there area. any other suggestions. i have also used the 5 star xtreme but not sure how well it holds up over time. its so cheap its scares me.

it sounds like you didnt put it on wet enough, or it was flashing off while you were still spraying resulting in a haze...

Never reclear over anything finer than 800.....Cheap clears such as that just require more coats to get enough on the surface to protect it and they also dont have as much uv inhibitors in them

ya I'd use 800 to re clear, 1000 max.....And your clear isnt very shiney because its a much cheaper quality. If you actually look into the can it should be a lot yellower looking that more expensive polyurethane clears. If you knock it down and re clear it you should get a semi decent finish to it. -Brad

I use Glasurit Clear at work, its a new paint when we quit using ppg and it lays so slick....but on topic...your wasting time and work using cheap stuff, its better to do it right the first time when it comes to paint, believe  me, I know......lol and its cheaper in the long run.

i would use nothing finer than 800 for your reclear. try using Maxrix ag40 its some good shit and not a bad price either.
