i have a 03 silverado with a molded roll pan. the pan has been on for about 3 years and it has been molded for about 2 years. it is rusting around the License plate and where it is is bolted up on bottom of the pan.my question is does anyone else have rust on there pan? i was told that it will rust over time? the pan is a sir mikes.is there any warranty with the pan?post up and let me knowthanks!

and what does the back side of the pan look like?

that start to rust too, but must of the rust is around the License plate and where the brackets are on the back side at the bottom

did you paint the bare metal on the back?

sounds like whoever installed the roll pan didn't do a good job applying corrosion protection, the only thing i didnt like when a bought a sir micheals roll pan is they didn't weld the license box all the way up which could cause moisture to get in the joint, unless you applied seam sealer to the back. i dont know if this is how sir micheals does all their rollpans but this is how mine was

so its not normal cause the guy at the body shop said that steal roll pans rust. i know steal rust but i dont think the pan should be rusting. No one has this problem?

It is not a problem if it is installed and painted properly. Like someone already stated, it sounds like whoever installed it didn't do the complete job. Metal should not be left bare, or it will rust.

any steel will rust if not properly protected with something....

after mounting the roll pan, it needs some type of protection on the back of it...

need to get that rust off asap or it will get worse..... then put something on the back of the roll pan to protect it from the weather....
