more then likely, or its the timing chain. its not runnin to rich and causing wash out is it?

doesnt sound like the timing chain. check your water and make sure you didnt blow a headgasket and have waterdowned the oil. also as james suggested it may be rich and washing out the oil.

whatever you do quit running when it sounds like that! the more it runs with that knock the worse it shall get meaning if a bearing is destroyed it will move the bearing pieces throughout the motor.

stop running your motor you will only cause your self more damage by doing that. It does not sound like your timing chain. I just had one eat a hole through my cover and the sound was a bit more consistant then that. Are you motor smart? Can you tear one down? Pull off your valve cover and see if you see any damage to the springs or rockers... what were you doing with your truck prior to this sound happening?? Do you have any water in your oil? drain your oil and look for metal shavings. Place a magnet in the pan to collect the metal.

i wouldn't think so. maybe before the weber but i wouldn't say it is now. timing chain would be constant noise though, right? It knocks at idle even, but gets louder and louder. i figured timing chain would be one volume constantly...

motor smart, i tore my 302 down. was going to do the shortblock install myself and just have someone rebuild the head for me.

i installed my weber and didnt realize idle was turned full in, so i cranked it and up went the rpm's. quickly. so im guessing that did it. I have to break the news to my dad before I do anything he aint gunna be happy.

i will do an oil change as soon as i can. it's going back home and sitting.

yeah you spun a bearing it sounds like. Just let her sit and prepare to tear it down. dont start it anymore.. I would not rev it, you want to limit the damage that the bearing will cause. Good luck and i hope its not more. Might as well get a new timing chain kit while your at it since you will have it tore down. I picked mine up for about 130 bucks shipped and its been awesome if you need the contact info let me know.
