Shocks on Uppers?

So I recently bagged the front of my truck. The guy that was helpin me thought putting the shocks off the upper with a brace from the top of the existing shock mount and the frame was a good idea. We tried it. Worked pretty good for a while till it broke last night.

Anyway, I was wonderin if anyone has heard of this or where you mount your front shocks as to not lose turning radius.

I dont think I understand. the lower shock mount is on the upper arm and the top shock mount is near the stock location? I have seen them done off the upper arm but you have to do a hoop like a prerunner for the top mount.

ok I am so glad I finally came across this pic in a forum....sorry to jack your thread tooleyhc but I have to ask.....by extending the booster shaft and running the booster slam to the radiator support, does that not affect the brakes at all? couldnt you have moved the booster over(to the left). and it sounds to me tooleyhc that the shock setup you had was fine(setup like ahab was talking about)maybe just go back and reweld better????

triangulate your lowers and run your shock off of that. you wont loose and of your turning and you can get rid of that ugly ass strut rod.

That strut rod wasn"t my truck. But do you mean like make tubular lowers? If I had the $$$ I'd do it to both the upper and lower.

I'm basically thinkin about the Suicide Doors front shock weld on relocator kit thingy (technical term) Would that cut a lot of my turning out or not? And that strut tower looking thing seems like it would flex. Is it attached to more than the firewall?
