What grit do you color sand the base coat with? Any advice? It's on a solid black non metallic and not a pearl.

If you haven't wet sanded much I reccomend 2000 grit. If you have a lot of orange peel you can use 1500 or 1200 but you need to know what you are doing because it is easy to sand through the clear using that.

It's not the clear. It's the base coat. I've heard two different things on this. I've heard from some that you can sand the base and from others that you don't ever sand the base. I have a few imperfections and a small run in the base and I want to get it out before graphics and clear. Also, I have some base left over that I can touch up with. I thought about hitting the spots with 800 and applying some more base.

You should be fine since it is straight black.

DONE. it turned out nice. The run was actually in the white sealer. But it's all good to go now...
