well thanks for the input i guess. like i said i have a 71 c-10 in the works that is all metal z notched, c notched and bagged. I dont want to go through all the work and money to fab. something like that up again. I just wanted to make a light weight track competitor. Maybe the carbon fiber fender idea is gay and taking it too far. I just wanted to here some thoughts. It was nothing against imports I think a lot of them are badass but even domestics but when it comes to the track its all cars, and wanted to bring something different to the track. me being a truck guy and all. Plus you guys make it sound like i just want to flaunt and show the carbon fiber. when I would paint it anyway, i just want weight reduction and keep the structural integrity. after all this though im sorry i asked lol.

the truck is getting a v8 swap but im limited in funding so its not going to be a bored out beast. My opinion is the 4 cyl. s-10 engines are not worth investing in. lets face it they are not built and tuned like some of these kick ass import motors.

it mite be acutually lighter to cut out the metal inner fenders and just leave teh shell of the fender..

this is true i have read that some where before. do some cutting on all the structure work on the fenders. much lighter, and keep atleast sheetmetal there. good point james

Yeah James, good point

only problem on cutting the inners out is that you get mad fender flap since the integrity of the fender is gone.

so weld up some small box tubing...just as a brace. wouldnt add much...

yea that sounds like it would be a good idea thanks for the input. I'll probably end up doing that with just using the fenders i have instead of spending more money. thanks again

Just find a junkyard 454 that spins freely, put $100 or so into a rebuild kit(just a re freshener), find a TH350 or TH400 tranny, add a stall.

Easy 12 sec truck.
