Hmmm... I suppose you're not concerned with the alignment issues of caster and camber curves?
So you basically moved your upper balljoints forward an inch from the stock lacation without touching the lowers? You probably reduced, or eliminated your castor. Truck might feel a little sloppy on the road.
barry did it so when he's laid out the wheel doesnt move back like they do on s10's.. now the wheel stays straight.. i havent heard of it before, but jumbo was explaining it to me.. kinda interested in seeing how it turns out.. before ppl start ragging, you havent tried it so stfu and sit back and if it isnt good, he'll change it or work the bugs out.. its called 'trying something new'
I don't think anyone was "ragging" or "hating". The only comments mentioned were worthwhile questions.
Keeping an open mind and trying something new is a great way to go about building something. What is being attempted here is admirable. The only problem is that whole "physics" thing.
The main downside I see is a difference in caster, which will affect alignment and braking, IMHO.
Drive it, try it, tell everyone how it worked for you. If you don't like it, change it.
Progress is always good to see.

i had questions about that too, but he said the only time it affected steering or handling was turning all the way to the right or left. If i ever get it running again, i'll let you guys know how it works out.
and what is castor? (this is why i did'nt try to do any of this shit, i'm far from knowledgeable about this stuff) And right now the uppers are just mocked in, i still have to put in the stock bolts and shims and stuff, they're just tied down right now with temp bolts so we could test fit the wheels.
damn, now I have to go makes some progress on mine. When you think you will have her up and drivin?

i'm shooting for by the first of June, but realistically it will probably be around the middle to end of July. Once i get it back from Barry, i can start to put it back together, but my biggest issues are painting the dash, putting that in, extending the wiring harness for whatever needs it, and plumbing the brake lines for a prop valve instead of abs. Also, i have an almost 2 year old who's starting her terrible two's early, so i'll work on it as much as i can between 11pm and 2-3am when i get it back, lol.
what about you, josh? when are you shooting for road time?
looking good bro i see u got the steering column apart looks like your having fun wait till u have to do the wires. well good luck if i was near by id help but iam stuck in mass...
preciate the offer, mike, i belive i owe you a beer or 30, correct? lol The wiring does'nt daunt me, it's just putting everything back together. where it looks like a pink wire factory threw up under my dash is the result of my first switch wiring escapade. Now i know better, and i have some 9 wire cable from sd.com to clean it all up. And on putting the plugs back in, it should be fairly easy, becasue the plugs will only go in one hole, all the plugs are different. But just to be sure, i labeled the plug and the hole it came from, so i should be aaight.
ya u should be good my truck was in gray primer so i wrote it all down on the drivers door and marked everything its alot of work to go down that extra inch or 2.
