smooth tailgate

ok im going to shaved my tailgate the questions is whats th best filler and primer and should i do the body work over primer or bare metal? and by the inside i paint the filler plate? thanks

I would recomend Rage fillers, and some weld through primer on the tailgate where your welding in the filler. I would coat the inside of your filler and any bare metal that will be under it.

any thing evercoat and deffinitly paint the back side so it doesnt rust

im not sure if you have a removable panel on the inside of the gate (like toyotas), but if you do, i would recommend taking it off after you weld in the filler and then spray some rattle can rustoleum or something to keep anything from rusting. that would suck to have a rotted and shaved tailgate. good luck man. post pics.

ok but when i finish welding the filler and is all nice and smooth should i just do the bondy work over it or prime it first.also should i cut the lip were the handle sits so my filler is edge to edge or should i just put it over it
