Legal advice?

Okay, so last night was pretty interesting. To make a long story really short, my moms boyfriend hit her and then I knocked his ass out. Afterwards he was threatening to press charges. He was pretty pissed, probably because eh got dropped by a kid half his age in front of 4 or 5 people. So I'm just worried about being 18 now and possibly going to jail? It wasn't technically self defense because he didn't hit me. Just wondering what I should maybe do? Last thing I need right now is jail time. My moms more worried about it than I am. I guess he was making threats afterwards.

He wont press charges on u man he hit a woman and will get in deeper shit than u if he goes to police

hate to chime in and not have any advice, but id like to say that you did the right thing. id woulda knocked his ass out too. it would suck to have to do jail time, but in the end if you have to, to me anyway it was for a good cause. but i would guess you could tell the cops what you did and could back it up if your moms boyfriend left a mark/bruise/or whatever on her when he hit her. also, if he hits her again, break his fucking hands. no hands = no hitting!

I think your in the clear man. He hit your mom first so in most cases he would go to jail if the police were called that night. He has no recourse for you hitting him.

Thats what I was thinking, but I don't really want to risk it. I wouldn't put it past him. My mom doesn't have any marks on her so he could deny hitting her possibly. I'm worried about him possibly bruising up. I hit him in the face a few times pretty hard. My knuckles are a little sore.

i agree with Keef...what he did is way worse in the eyes of the law than what you did....

I'm surprised he made it through the night. There were 5 guys there that wanted to beat his ass for that prior to him even arriving. I just happened to be the only one right there. I didn't know fi I wanted to hit him or not until he said "Come on, fucking hit me." So I dropped him. I probably wouldn't have stopped if my mom didn't grab me.

regardless, i think your in the clear. He knows what he did was wrong, and he was probably just spoutin off at the mouth because you dropped his ass. Who else saw this happen? as long as their story is strait, i think you will be ok.

The people that saw it were me, my mother, obviously him, and my friend Kris. I talked to him this morning and hes got the story down.
