Maybe take it to your media blaster and see what they can do to clean it. Have to find out how to seal it though as you do not want the corrosion to come back. Good luck.

I am also concerned that the inside of your tank looks like that as well. It will be alright for a while until you can get the funds to replace it so keep that in your mind.

The inside of the tank looks fine from what I can see with a flashlight. I'll try and find one off of a newer truck at the local yard.

And maybe I'll get a tank sealer kit for the whole tank. If I'm doing this, I assume I have to take out the sending unit and that other thing that tells you if your tank is full, correct?

yes the tank has to be bare, just like the motor cycle tank. washing it w/ the metal prep that comes w/ the kit should get rid of the corrosion.

This is a long shot but does anyone have an extra tank sealer kit? All I have left of mine is probably enough to do a small drinking glass.

I actually have enogh Marine Clean and Metal Ready left to do my tank from when I did the bottom of my cab. Just no tank sealer itself.

seth, not to hijack your thread, but what the hell is that on your sig? It looks like the end to motorcycle handlebars with some swirly shit under glass. I wish i could help, i tried to talk like 6 people into sectioning my gas tank, but everyone hemmed and hawwed and basically told me to fuck off. If i could get someone to do it, i'd send you the extra sealer.

Seth i got one here off of that parts truck in my backyard, you want me to take it and get it bead blasted for you?? Its pretty much in the same condition as yours, but i can give it a shot. The bead blasting wont cost me anything.

seth,
go to ace hardware and buy a bottle of muradic acid. but beware to not get it on you or concreet. it burns and will eat the concreet. but any way, muradic acid will eat any rust. but will not eat metal. you can try useing it to clean out teh corosion/ rust. then celan it with soap and water. or baking soda and water to nutralize it. also beware after cleaning it it will want to rust so spray it with light oil to help it from coroding till you get a chance to coat it
