I usually don't fuck around when it comes to complete strangers with money or vehicles. Rarely do I mess with stuff like that with people I know really well. If you want my opinion I think you fucked yourself. If there is no evidence that you and this guy were making a deal, then call the police and say someone stole your truck. Once he tries to sell it or get that affidavit of lost title like doug mentioned and they run the vin number then he will be up a stolen vehicle shit creek. You probably won't get your money that way but you will be out of a lawsuit. If he was to wreck and kill someone its all on you homie cause its still in your name. Think about it... Another option would be to go to his house and collect. I don't know the legalities of it but you would probably be out more than its worth getting lawyers and suits filed for the remaining money he owes you. I could understand if it was thousands but just eat your losses and get that shit out of your name.

several people have told me to report it stolen.

and the truck isnt in running condition, and is in pieces, so i know he wont be driving it for that matter, but i see where you are coming from.

IM A VEHICLE LOAN UNDERWRITER --- AND I SOMEWHAT SEE THIS ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS ---- IN A SENCE YOU DID SCREW YOURSELF --- YOU SHOULD HAVE GOT THE MONEY UPFRONT AND THEN SIGNED RELEASING THE TITLE --- NOW IF YOUNEVER SIGNED RELEASING IT YOU STILL OWN IT -- THEREFORE LIKE PREVIOUSLY STATED HE WRECKS IT AND KILLS SOMEONE -- YOUR F*CKED --- NOW HE CANT LEGALLY SELL IT SINCE ITS NOT HIS TO SELL --- BUT IF SOME DUMBASS GIVES HIM MONEY HE WOULD BE STUPID NOT TO TAKE IT ---- CONTRACT - CONTRACT CONTRACT --- YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT BEFORE YOU ACTED ---- GOOD LUCK AND HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS ITSELF OUT !!!!

ben, it all depends on the state you live in. i believe in the state of georgia you do not have to show proof of title just a bill of sell and then you can register the vehicle. but like here in florida with out the title signed over to the owner there is no way to secure a florida registration. but here in florida i have seen this happen to many of people that have sold vehicles the new owner never transfered the title drove the vehicle around illegally and then the vehicle got impounded and the original owner is now liable for all the storgage fees and their registrations and drivers licenses were suppend by the state because the junk yard or tow service force a mechanics lean. they had to pay off the lean before they could get their licenses and registrations back....

another thing you have to consider is the fact that someone is just looking for a parts truck and don't care that it has a title or not...or they have a truck same body style etc. with a title and they might swape the vin plate to your truck and then you are out the truck....

call the police in your town and ask there opion on what you should do dont tell them your name or any details that lead to who you are or the other person incase you have to report it stolin latter

but in my opion id just go over to the kids house with four or five buddies and repo your truck back load that shit up on a trailor and think of it as he rented your truck for a couple of weeks

just call and say it was stolen that is your best bet cause that way you won't be responsible plus you never know you might get the truck back ha

IMO The only comment here that really made much sense is Russ. About the only thing you can do legally is go to the courthouse and place a small claims suit on him. They cant legally give you advice, but you may wanna ask if someone may know what to do just for the sake of them knowing the laws better than 99% of the people on here. Reporting it stolen will prove nothing other than you messed up and got mad. Could end up gettin you in trouble for knowing its not stolen. As Russ said possession is 9-10ths of the law. Thats not gonna vary much state by state. Otherwise try workin things out with the kid rather than come on here askin for advice. Because legally he's not a legal adult to be put into a legal binding contract anyhow. Basically youre screwed all around without working things out with him or his parents. Sorry for your luck bro
