Let's take the Taco I recently had in MiniTruckin'

The out-the-door cost on that truck was about $23k. Let's look at what that included.

-Stock floor bodydrop
-Custom independent rear suspension w/ inboard Wilwood brakes
-'83 to '95 Toy front clip w/ custom arms & Wilwood brakes
-Convert front sump motor to rear sump
-Custom aluminum radiator
-Inner fenderwells to cover 20s
-CNC master cylinders and pedal assy.
-Repaint under hood
-Powdercoat frame
-Custom fuel cell
-Relocate battery
-Shorten driveshaft
-Modify bedfloor to cover 20s and suspension
-Run exhaust around everything

...and so much more stuff that I can't even remember.

The point is that the entire build took almost 6 months and he ended up with a stock appearing truck with a really bitchin' chassis, that can be driven every day. If you break it all down to the cost of everything seperately, it all of a sudden looks like a killer deal.

well max, i made a similar comment in your thread about the taco spindles.

dudes these days want it low and cheap. not many want to pay for actual engineering. its a damn shame.

and to think. hot rod guys pay almost $5k on a boxed in set of rails with 3 crossmembers. and absolutely NO suspension

Dammit Russ, don't tell them that. There is no way I would touch a tube off-road chassis for $10k. I'm charging the guy with the F-150 $11k labor, just for the front suspension. Then he's in parts another $10k or so.

This is probably why I don't have very many minitrunker clientel

For X more you would have a stock car then. When you are done with Max you have a one off ride. So you would be missing something custom.

Where are you all getting the mandrel bent framerails. Are you outsourcing your measurements and getting them done, or do you have the mandrel benders. Or do you purchase frame rail sections??

There's a shop in Texas that are making frame rails. It's up in the classiffieds. Can't think of the name of the shop. They make em to your specs and send them to you. Not sure the price though. MMAUTOWORKS is the place, look under suspension in the classifieds.
