D70's are awesome cameras and fairly easy to learn, street price on them are going for 650 just for the camera..but anything over 750-800 is an ass raping for that camera unless it comes with a whole gag bag of extra equiment not counting the chargers and usb and rca stuff.. you looked at any actual straight out camera/photography stores yet?

I use a Canon S3 IS. I had the S1 IS and used it for about 3 years before making the upgrade. Got a digital rebel XT (350d) in between and didn't like it. I dont like having to use the viewfinder to frame a shot, and the S3 has a flip out LCD so you can take low angle shots easliy.

I just got a Canon 350D. Also got me some lenses. I think I am going to like the 70-300mm lense the most

350d is a great starter SLR, and the lenses will work with a higher model Canon camera so you can invest more into the lenses. I just don't have good enough vision to use the viewfinder to frame all the shots. The S3 IS does a great job for what I need too.

I shoot with a nikon D50 and i love it. theres not much difference between a 70 and a 50 and youll love the price on a 50 better. i just recently upgraded to a canon 20d. this last weekend in hawaii i still used my nikon cause its so easy to use.

I'd consider this camera also. A Sony Alpha A100, 10.2mp. About $1k for it, in kit form.
