The gas crunch gave birth to minitrucking- all those stoners in the 70s couldn't afford to drive their vans (no offense to stoners OR gas guzzling vans!), so they went out and bought Datsuns, Yotas, and Luvs!I have a couple of Truckin' mags from the 70s, and you should see some of the crap they threw on those minis! i think th efirst minitrucks were getting customized in the early 80s biut it wasnt until the lowriders and bugs died out that minitruckin started to get more popular i belive lowrider magazine actually stopped printing in 84 cus of no one being interested and the came back in 88 with minitrucks on the covers and showing tech articles on z racks and such as time went by minitruckin mag came along and the lowriders started to become popular again and lowrider started going back to traditional lowriding impalas bombs etc
