Stock hood to a cowl hood??

I was thinking about cutting my hood and raising the center like a cowl hood then adding some pieces to the side and welding it back together. Think that will be a pain doing that To a 91 caprice hood?

thats exactly how i did mine.... it took time but it was worth it!

thanks... i found it easier to cut the section u wanna raise, figure out how high u want it at the rear, get some steel brake tube cut little prop rods out of the tube to the height u want, tack them in the rear ,make sure u use a level and that the tubes are cut to the exact same height, then cut little props all the way to the front of the hood down the sidesto create a support and structure shape of the hood. then cut pieces , weld in the sides,flip the hood and remove the tubes with cutting wheel.(after u r completely done with the hood)

by the way? who tacked up that aluminum tank rack? it looks sick!

I built that rack with some 1"x1" aluminum.I think I might give the hood a try. Whats the worse that can happen lol. I have been kickin the idea around for awhile. I started my sheetmetal work back in the floor of the 91. Body drop is just about done. Can't let the welder cool down for to long ya know... Thanks for the help. Good people on this site!

I did mine. We used 7 pieces to do the entire raise of the hood because my strut mounts were raised along with the engine

That looks like alot of work to raise the entire hood like that, came out good though. I can buy a cowl hood for my car but I don't want to fork out the $650 - $800 bucks for one. I will give the fabricating one a shot and if it don't turn out like I want it to then I'll go back to a stock hood.
