Big Question

If I was you... I would go with a shop. It be one thing if you have seen it done before and kinda got an idea but to start off brand new is another thing.. I had my truck done at a shop first, paid 4,500 for it, and it's worth it.. The other way I look at it is... If it fucks up you can always take it back to that shop and have them fix it. Where as if you did it yourself, if something fucks up, the only person you can blame is yourself. Just a thought.. Either way you do it, good luck!And yes... I would take the welding/metal working courses and then go to town on it if you dont sell the mazda use that as a guni pig with welding or find a job at a metal workers shop and learn bit by bit how the tools work and whats all involved. I worked at a welding shop as a shop biotch grinding the welds so the pieces can get ready for paint or powder coating I learned how to counter sink on a drill press learned how to tig and honed in my mig skills and have become proficiant in metal finishing on aluminium and stainless its tough work but very rewarding in the end. sorry for the book but I hope this helps......

i did everything on my truck myself. but when i first started, i had basic skills. if u can weld go for it. but if u cant weld, then u gotta learn how to weld, and make sure ur welds are penatratin before u can even touch your truck. im all for doin it urself. but..... if u have to learn how to do everything before u can even attempt it on ur ride, then i suggest takin it to a shop, and gettin a machine for xmas or something. then later u can buy a lil project.

Im not goin to a shop.. i wanna build it myself.. I appreciate all your input.. Ill buy a nice welder with a bottle and get my welding down than worry about the yota..Can I get mig welding down with a bunch of practice?

yeah man buy a welder and all the tools u can get ur hands on and do it yourself. i cant weld but would like to learn too, so if i had 4gs id get some tools! my truck is bagged and it just sucks havin to tell people "no" when the ask "did u do all the work yourself"?

Yea i think thats my biggest issue... theres a kid at school that has caddies and a few lil things but didnt do the work at all and i think it would suck not bein able to take credit for whats done,.. I wanna say check out what i did and explain it to people.. I love teachin..
