I bagged and bodydropped my first truck when i was 15...Had nothing to look at or go by other than everybody here on SSMHeck, i've learned alot since then, but i wouldn't have learned it if i woulda payed a shop!Ask TONS of questions, take it VERY slow, and when you make your first few cuts and welds, post pics up to see what people say, trust me, they'll tell you if your doin shitty work or not!If you like workin with metal, do itIf you like mini's, but are better with the sewing machine, leave it to a shop!

if you have no skills pay someone to do it,

or buy a project truck and build it over time.


i highly suggest if you're planning to tackle something of this nature yourself, take some CLASSES in the local community college this summer for WELDING and METAL FAB.

This isn't a skill that everyone has. That's the common problem ... people think that ANYONE can do it.

Wrong. Not everyone in the world can run a 4 minute mile... not everyone in the world can walk a mile...

just take your time and if you're going to do it yourself, understand what it is you're doing.

Otherwise, i would take that money and have a reputable shop do an install for you.

Buy my calculations, you will have spent 2450, leaving you $1550 to spend on hookers. ALSO, you will have a welder, and some skill, and pride in doing the work yourself. That last one may not mean much now, but afterwards you will finally understand why guys are so vehement about doing their own work, it really is a motivator.

BTW I am assuming you have access to a compressor and a cut off wheel and a sawzall, if not, well, you have 1550 left. If you spent 4k on bagging your truck you may get it done faster, but you wouldnt have those cool tools left over.

I'm 17 and I've done all the work on my truck myself. I just read up a lot on how things work, and then I go for it. I've spent less than 4 grand including the purchase price of the vehicle, and I have wheels. Lol.
