There are different ways you can accompish this center console and keep the woofer from getting touched. You can downward fire. The mounting is different, but nothing that is not going to allow the woofer to fire down. Another note, if you where to fire the woofer down this will cause the console to become very high, do to the mounting depth of the woofer and the proper space from the floor. Not too cool looking.If it was me, I would fire the woofer to the back wall, about 4" from the back wall. If wanted, you can have the top wall of the console/enclosure go all the way to the back wall, to protect the woofer from above.I was going to do this, in my '95 standardcab Serria.

I have a 8w7 in my center console for mid bass. It gots great sound quality out of it. And best of all you wouldnt even know theres a woofer in there. I have 5.25 coaxial speakers, my gauges and switches on top.
