I have a couple of questions. I just picked up a 2001 tacoma x-cab 4X2 and I am wanting to drop it with the djm 3-4 kit for now since I need to use it as a work truck and a commuter vehicle for a couple of years before I will be able to body drop it. My questions are: I still need to be able to put stuff in the bed, with that drop, what would be the most weight the bed can handle? I also am worried about wheel rub. What would be a decent offset and width to be able to tuck with stock rear wheel wells? I was reading different things but not a clear answer. Also who makes a steering wheel adapter for the tacoma? I want to change out the airbag wheel for a billet wheel. Any help would be appreciated.

i have a 97 with a djm 34 drop kit and never had any problems actually i think that i should have gone lower

I started out with a 3/4 drop...it really doesn't change much. It will give you just a slight lower profile (barely noticeable) and you shouldn't have any problem at all clearing the stock wheels. I'm not really sure of the weight change in the bed, but I'm guessing you should still be able to carrry whatever load you were carrying before. LeCarra makes the hub adapter you will need - I got mine at http://www.naiser-racing.com, or you can go directly to their website http://www.lecarra.com

if your worried about the weight you can allways put a set of air shocks in the rear.

Thanks Vickie, I plan on body dropping it on 20's in a couple of years, but I still need the full function of the truck for a lot of home improvement projects. I know 3/4 is not much since I love my bagged mazda. As for the Lecarra adapter, I did not see it posted on the site, they said they had others though if you call them, but it was Sunday. Thanks Last Leg, I did not think of that. Do you guys think a 7 inch wide rim with a +40 be ok? On www.customtacos.com people were saying all different things.

Yeah, your mazda is sweet! I'll be taking my tacoma to Devious this Saturday for a sfbd...finally The guy at Naiser Racing was really cool and got my hub to me right away (a LeCarra, $70 plus $10 shipping and it doesn't look like his prices have gone up since '03) The one I got was for an older year- didn't have one for an '00- it fit really close but wasn't an exact flush match and we had to fabricate a small sheet metal piece to give it a smooth finish against the steering post. Easy enough.My 19's are 7.5 with a +45.

Thanks for the comment about my Mazda. They will be featuring it in the near future. Do you have newer inner fenderwells or stock? I am also worried about rubbing in the rear fenderwells.

I'll check out your feature when it comes out. My inner fenderwells have been completely cut out to make room for the tires when layed out, Devious will be fabricating some for me when they do my bd though. In the bed I have Alston wheel tubs (huge racing tubs) with plenty of clearance. My 19's just barely clear the back fenders when layed out - even after cutting away most of the lip. **I don't recommend cutting away the lip...the fenders have cracks in them now because the guy cut too much and didn't put a brace in there. I'm thinking of flaring the fenders now to get ample clearance, and well, because it looks cool

i have an 03 reg cab and am totally lost when it comes to backspacing. i know what i want just not how to get it....19's with a deep deep dish on the back wheels. but id like to keep the lip of the rim shallow enough i dont have to have the rearend narrowed. any advice ? the wheels are aluminum if it makes a diff
