seen another topic a while back..but couldnt find it..
whats the best way to strap down ur truck??...straps thru the wheels, straps that go over the wheels, etc.?
truck should be...layed out? lay it out on 2x4's? aired up? on the trailer
any other suggestions
wanna take my truck to some shows...but not going to have the motor in for a while..so i cant drive it..
I think most people strap it down by the tires. some lay the truck out, but depending on the trailor you can't get into the truck.
Lay the truck out on some 2x4 or 4x4 if the truck is bodydropped. This will keep you from laying the truck out on the trailer and then every bump you hit putting stress on the bodypanels. I would hate to show up at a show with some wavy body panels. Then I normally wrap around the axle in the back or find something on the frame to hook to. Up front normally go arond the engine crossmember or find a spot to hook a hook. Lower a arms also work.
Once my truck is out I just lay it out on the trailer and use 2-4 Car straps depending on where I am going.
1. In the front wrapped 2 times around the frame
2. In the rear Wrapped 2 times around the frame.
If I am long haulin or going to be over 45mph, then I will use 4 straps tieing it down on all 4 corners of the frame.

I lay my bodydrop outon blocks on wood blocks on the frame so body floats a lil. I hid me some switches so i can lift truck up on trailer so i canopen door and get in to get it off.I also had to cut and hinge the fender on trailer so i can open the door..and the best rule is use 4 straps 2 front 2 back criss cross of possible and go ahead and buy some good ones the first time.with axle straps built in...
I have done it a few ways
Lay the truck out on 4x4s and strap to the four corners of the frame.. That works pretty good.
I also have hooked up my straps to the 4 corners of the frame and then layed the truck out and then tighten it down.. that has also be workin pretty good, but only works on my buddy dans trailer, cuz of the way its shaped and where the hold downs are... I tried it on another trailer one time and it kept comin loose.
what about an enclosed trailer? thats what im lookin into gettin
enclosed trailer, definalty lay it down on boards and X the front and rear straps, using 4 straps. make sure u disconnect your battery to.
I got a 24' enclosed to. There nice and towin is about the same. Lay it out on 4x4 if your bodydropped. Then you got tie downs in the front and back of the trailer. I had to add a few more just so that I could hook to the truck then run the strap directly down threw a hook under where i hooked onto the truck and then strait back to the hook at the front or back. I know that sounds confusing but then your straps are not diagonal and hitting your body or rubbing. They hook to the truck and go strait down, then strait back.
I run these on the front wheels. I normally chain the engine cross over, lay it out on 2x4's then wheel strap it.
then just a ratchet strap around the rear end on each side.
just make sure it's firm.
then rock and roll!
remember, always chain the trailer to the tow truck!
