Thanks for the novel, but that doesn't mean that it should go up 50 cents in a month.

well when the trading price per barrel jumps from $50 to $70 in the span of a few weeks that changes the market value of the unrifined pure crappy oil from $1.19 - $1.67 a gallon.. there fore the price jumps 48cents...
shit happens get over it, theres not jack shit any of you can do about the prices, for every 100,000 people that decide to boycot something or refuse to buy from so and so, there are another 200,000 waiting and willing to pay for the product. somewhere.

rev...good point.
did this process change in the last 3-7 years? if not...then it still doesnt explain why it was so cheap before.
if i was paying 1.09 in 1997...does that mean that the oil companies were losing 50% of there profit at that time?

Back then crude was a whole lot cheaper...like $10-12 a barrel

Exxon reported the highest quarterly profit in the history of capitalism after the hurricanes last year. I don't give a rats ass how much it costs, they are still making money hand over fist.

Brazil will be oil independent thanks to E85. I own a flex fuel ranger that can take E85 - but no stations in my area (I don't even think in my state!) have E85. I know this (E85) isn't the end all of answers to the oil problem (and I know there are production issues), but it may be an option.

it'll take the US up to 15-20 years before they can have enought E85 to be as dependant as Brazil, Brazil has offered it in large amonts for years and just now have made the jump to go into a full scale process with it

I know it will take that long, that's what sucks. We've known about this problem for a long time, and should have taken steps to avoid it. However, I don't think it will take 15-20. We're America, if we want something bad enough, we'll throw insane amounts of money at it and work hard for it. We could do it in 5-10, if we really wanted to. But we don't and there is still the issue of those vehicles that cannot use E85.

our government is a corrupt piece of shit, its all their fault gas is the way it is. they can step in and change shit but they wont. what we should do is send a army to kuwait or where ever there pumpin out the oil and take over the fukin country. they owe it to us anyway. we can do it no problem, but it wont ever happen
thats my cents only..so dont criticize my way of thinkin.
