shavein a tail gate on a ranger step side

has and one shaved the tail gate up on a step side ranger be for i have seen it done but how was it done and not have it crack?

yep. mines shaved. pics on my profile. I welded a cross bar at the very back and used my stock tailgate as a template. the same with the taillights.
