I have an idea, instead of posting here, asking a bunch of regular ass guys whom can barely afford to work on their own trucks because they never went to any kind of school and make shit wages because they chose to "Get the experience" and "Get paid to learn" (Meanwhile, staying someones apprentice in a shop for years).................
I say GO TO SCHOOL. Whether it be for engineering, Wyotech, law Enforcement, whatever! You WILL be a step ahead of anyone who did not go to school. When you go to school, you only get out of it what you put into it. The ones saying "Fuck school", are the ones who wouldn't get anything out of it, because they spend too much time drunk at partys and shows. Go to school man, make good money, give yourself options, you won't regret it, especially when you aren't struggling to find a decent job, or hating your job, but can't find another because you don't have any kind of training or education.
It all boils down to what you want to do obviously, but school is never a bad idea, no matter what the cost.

Go to school. I will be graduating with my B.S. degree in Criminal Justice come december. The agencies in my area pay around 75,000 to 80,000 not counting OT. Not to mention, I will get an extra 5% pay increase for having my degree. Being single, thats a fuck load of money to have. The moral of the story, go to school so you can get a well paying job.

dude my friend needs to go to california, he just got his criminal justice degree (top of his class!) and even interviewed with the FBI, and his starting salary offer was still under 38k. They said he could top 48 within 5 years though... He IS making 15% more than the uneds homwever, so his degree is paying off...

I didn't know what i was gonna do either. I was goin to ITT for awhile but that shit is crazy expensive and now i go to a university in wisconsin. Its one of the top engineering schools in the nation. Im goin for my mechanical engineering degree and next semester im going to try and minor in metal joing/processes. I plan on doin all that frame work and shit like that once i graduate and have the time and money. Engineering is a lot of work but its the way to go i think.

schooling is great dont get me wrong, i got college certified in high school for welding. but if your a good painter who can work fast (but willing to start out as a helper and learn fast and they guy painting is willing to teach you) then id say within prob 4 or 5 years(what schoolin is usually) if you in a dealership or bodyshop were there is alot of steady painting, then you could easliy pull home 100k a year on commision. also if u do decide to go to school, make sure u get ICARR certified as well as ASE :)
