I thought about going to school for body work, but ended up get hired as a helper. I think I learned alot more that way then going to school. As long as your learning from some one good not a butcher or half ass. I seen a fabrication school on DezertRangers.com . I think it is called TheFabschool.com

fuck school do what you love if its minitruking and you truely love do it a lot of people tell you to go do this and go do that and at the end of the day your not happy what was the point of going to school honestly schools like uti and wyotech for customizing are a waste of time buy yourself a beater and practice buy yourself a welder at walmart and learn how to weld you live in cali there is a lot of shops tell them you will work for free to learn the trades most shops can use the hand even if its 1 or 2 days a week then you really know if thats what you want to do if its not then go to college

wether you like it or not in the next 10 years a college degree will be the same difference as a highschool diplmoa as a requirement for hire. As more and more people go to school you need to me more qualified to get a job and in the past a college degree was good enough now you are basically forced to get a masters. You can do what you love in college too. My 2 degrees are for a BSME and a degree in product design and developement. I get to design and make truck parts for class and the school gives me money and equipment to do it. this for instance was my product design 3 class project that i worked on with a partner. some of the solidworks drawings we did.

you get to choose what you want to do and design your program of study around your interests. plus you can get into cool classes like metal sculpture for art credits and weld metal into shit for projects which is fun.

i will also agree with james at the end of college all you get is a piece of paper that says you have completed what ever degree, what you learn from your studies is all up to you and how much you get out of it and apply to practical thigs.

My best advice would be to go to a community college part time to get a feel for it, and work at a shop part time when your not in classes. You have a shitload more free time in college so you shouldnt have a problem doing this and you will be able to go from there and decide better.

Smallz deffentily go to college!!! Im in So Cal and theres a great community college for automotive in CA its in Cuyamaca Community College http://www.cuyamaca.net/. They teach just about everything. That would be the smartest thing for you to do. You wont waste as much money if you decide that the life of an auto mechanic isnt for you. Also just to fill you in I come from a family of mechanics and my father is always telling me that the threat of overseas labor will someday put many... many mechanics out of business. So just keep that in mind good luck stay in school, and dont fuck up, or you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Peace

engineering is the best way to go imo, there is still alot of need for engineers and as the baby boomers retire lots of those jobs will open up.
