Hey im wondering what you guys think is the best way to go? Id like to open my own custom shop one day and what do you guys think is the best way to learn things such as frame and chassis fab, body shit, and painting? Would you say to try to learn it on yourown with help of ppl that know some stuff or go to college in auto classes? I live in Cali and there isnt much but wyotech and UTI for auto stuff, maybe i missed some schools, if i did let me know if theres in school out there for customizing and stuff. And if you have any other suggestions let me know. Thanks

go to school you'll end up enjoying the time out there plus you'll get a bit of knowledge i hear that uti and wyotech are just a waste of money in some aspects but over all the expirence of going to school will be something you'll enjoy (by expirence i mean getting outa your parents house partying and going to school to work on cars none of that sounds all that bad now does it)right now i know i wish i woulda went to some kinda school be it technical or a real college if i had the opritunity id jump right on it but dont just listen to me some one else who actually did it might tell you different

go to school for buisness and then get hired as a helper at a body shop to learn teh ropes FUCK a school, ull only learn the good ways from a goodteacher, y not get paid to learn?

i took an autobody class in high school, pretty much just learned the basics.

just no matter what go on and get a college degree in whatever. becuase if u get a degree that shows people that u can be trained, and u will get a job. i know of people that have got degress in sports medical fields, and they are running a bussiness. and trust me college is fun. lots of beer, and women.

after i graduate high school im doing something that has nothing to do with truckin/mini truckin. after i grad this year im going to go 2 a CC and take physcology and biology and get my majors in those and after that im more then likley going to go to a vet school... (undecided what 1 if i can get accepted) probably NCSTATE and become a vet and partner up with a vet some where here in bama and while im doing that im going to go 2 college (med school) and become a major in orthopedics and after that ill be a orthopedic vet dealing with OFA's hip dysplasia and that type of shit... but right nows its dreams... hopefully it will become a reality... even thought its MANY AND MANY years of school

just a small piece of advice that changed my mind on what im going to do after graduation. you work on your car as a hobby, do you want to be covered in oil with someone down your throat to get it done everyday? to me id rather do it as a hobby, i have nothing against workin on other people rides and i would like to have my own shop someday, but you need to think it over thoroughly because its a major decision. look at the pros and cons, not just what you think is fun. another thing you need to look at is demand. think of the demographics of the area your wanting to do this stuff, sometimes you gotta be willing to move where the demand is...
