jhon deer makes a black primer as well, made for tractors and what not but it wont fade at all on you.. And its only like 35 bucks a gallon. Takes like 2 weeks or somethin to dry. SO you cant sand it for awile, but the end result is pretty dam good..
Sand it down to the sheet metal then wash it good also us a degreaser (like Acetone) to remove any impurities (ie grease, oil, tar, dirt). After it dries lay your first coat then as each coat dries lay another 3-4 coats of flat black, and then lay out a flat clear coat. (If you want a professional looking primer job)! Good Luck Man
if u sand it down to the metal, DONT WASH IT. just blow it off and use wax and grease remover, then tack it off. water+ bare metal dont mix. acetone leaves a residue,as does thinner.
sand it down with 180 then some 360,then it should be ready to go.

sherwin williams can eat my ass...gave them a year of my life that i will never be able to get back.
