My dad says he owned a Buick with the 315 for a while in his younger days. Expect to go through a bunch of head gaskets, and head bolts. The aluminium expands and contracts so much that it will stretch out head bolts, and ruin head gaskets about once every year and a half of regular driving
He must have not built it right. My fathers been running a buick 215 in the rear of a corvair for 7 years on the drag strip with no problems, and its even reverse cammed. Hes running 355hp at the rear wheels, and an 11.50 in the quarter. The buick aluminum v8 is one tough motor.Im not really sure of how much shorter it is than a 350 though, not much i dont think. Id have to take some measurements. But the 350 in my garage it 29 inches from the pan to the top of the carb, and you could drop that height by 5-6 inches with a dry sump oil pan. It is shorter, but not much height difference.
