BUILT VS. BOUGHT

Where does trading fall into all this. Just a couple days ago I traded my 54 Chevy that I did everthing to, suspension, sheetmetal work, bodywork, paint everything for my buddies suburban that is a past feature vehicle. Hardest thing about it was letting go of something I built in return for something someone else did. It is a bad ass truck though and I have no problem telling someone I didnt build it (although I did help with some). So should I be looked down one for that?

it doesn't matter, as long as the work is good, and the truck is safe, just go out and have fun with it.
I know how to weld but didn't feel comfortable doing a stock floor body drop on my truck, so I took it to a shop.
My dad is a full time electrician and I've been messing with it since I was 3. Him and I wired out entire house and the work is just as good as if we had paid someone to do it. Do our outlets still work like everybody elses, YES. Are our electrical outlets any better than anybody elses, NO.
People do what they feel comfortable with. Shops are there for a reason, quality work, by professional with lots of experience.
This built not bought thing is about as stupid as saying, well my shirt is better than yours because mine was hand stiched and your shirt was bought at Wal-Mart. Who cares!! as long as you like the shirt and it serves your purpose.... guys just need to get out and have fun with their rides

I think the saying "built not bought" is what drives people that don't know how to do things to build unsafe vehicles. I feel that they think that they will be looked down upon because they didn't build it themselves. If I were in that situation I would rather pay someone to build me a safe vehicle rather than half ass something together. That saying is right up there with "drag and destroy", both gay!

Just "bought" my first mini truck about a month ago. Has a lot of work done to it already most of I would not be confident in taking on and I got a really good deal in my opinion. That being said there is alot of work left on this truck to get it to where im going to be completly happy with it. I agree with the build it or buy it make it your own and thats what I plan to do. This is my first post on SSM I hope to get to know a bunch of you guys on here. Really glad i got turned on to this site. Jackson...

There is a kid in my town that bought all the kits from SD to "build" his s10 extreme. To me it is a cookie cutter.

He talks shit to me because I am having DIB build my truck. I dont care There is only a handful of Expeditions in the scene and not a 1 is like mine.

Also we all know the work that DIB puts out.

I never cared about the "built not bought" because someone that is true to the scene only cares about the finished product.

I dont really care about built or bought, there are plenty of classless douchebags tearing up hotels and disparaging minitruckers everywhere with either kind of truck.

I bought my dime about over a year ago. I got 20's on it now and it is soon to be having airride installed on it. I have no idea how to do it. I also don't have any of the tools to do it. I consider this built by me. All the ideas were mine except for a couple of them. To me it don't matter if there built or bought. I just like custom cars. Later!!!!!

true,i bought my new truck i have now mostly completed,all i did was had the body work and paint and interrior done to make it my own.if i bought the same truck that i have now and had all the things that is done to this one i would be way deep in it and i got it pretty much done at a fraction of the cost.

I THINK BUYIN SOMETHING THAT IS ALMOST DONE OR DONE AND CHANGING THE PAINT AND MAKIN IT UR ON IS THE SMARTEST THING A MINI TRUCKER ON A BUDGET LIKE MYSELF CAN DO!!!!!!!!
