Im in the process of giving my truck a final go through and blocking everything after shaving. Ive been shooting Omni MP-170 primer over the mods that I have been doing as I go along. Im planning on shooting the whole truck once every thing is blocked out. My question is can I add a few drops of paint to this primer to tint it and be ok? Or is that a No No?

Its a 2 part epoxy primerthanks

Adding a few drops of paint most likely wont do anything. You have to add a decent amount. You can do it, but....ask any primer company or paint company and they will tell you that they dont recommend that you do that. Now, I have heard of tons of people doing it, and I have done it myself with no problems so just do it at your own discreation.

Working for a DuPont jobber I have heard to not do it. If we do it we only do it 5% which doesn't do much. Say to a quart of primer we put one ounce of colorant to "tinge" it a little. Reason is the company says it decreases the adhesion of the topcoat to the primer, which would result in peeling paint. But like Doug said, you can try it at your own discretion.ChrisTx Prospect

Yeah, my brother bought some PPG "blue" primer. Havn't sprayed it yet, but looks good in the can, lol.

Yeah, PPG does have colored primers, but, they are all damn near black in color. if you want something hella custom or bright, use K36 or K93. both of these are PPG. I use K93 daily and its a tintable primer/sealer and K36 is a tintable surfacer/sealer. Ive done both for custom work and they both are really good products.

Their are numerous primers that are tintable. I have personally used several and have never had any problems.

I went down to the local paint store not long ago, and they said they could tint it with any color without any problems for the final paint job
