do it yourself, learn something, and have fun doing it. its only metal... it can cut be off, and welded again. i have some pics in my profile of a firewall back frame that i built... and ill help with any questions if i can.

I say screw these other people, if you want to do it then do it.
Only suggestions I make is let a good welder (someone that actually gets paid to weld) check out your welds for structural integrity.
If you get it together, and you dont think its real safe, then improve it. I see to many people drive around in trucks about to fall apart, they could hurt someone.
and most of all, since this will be your first. Get ready for this thing to be REAL long term, your going to get burned out 1/2 way through (everyone does) so just keep up steam and finish it out.
Worse case scenario, make sure you have something else to drive. Dont cut it up if it is your only mode of transportation.
