problems starting engine
I have an 86 mazda b2000 and i am having trouble getting my starter to stay engauged on the flywheel. the starter gear kicks back out after one rotation of the flywheel when you try to start it. i have replaced the starter and the problem was still there. i think my flywheel is worn out but i wanted to get another opinion before i go to all the trouble of dropping the tranny to fix it.
you can do a quick visual check
there is a little gap between the motor and tranny, shine little flashlight in there and you'll see the flywheel...just see if the teeth are flat
but that is mostlikely it if you have changed the starter already
i did the visual check and the flywheel appeared to be in tact but a little worn. i'm not exactly sure what i'm looking for to be worn out.
