I wouldn't necessarily say that all of your customers are gonna want a website that reminds them of somebody else's website. I can think of at least one that's not happy with the idea. The same style is okay, if they don't have so many similarities. Just from a business standpoint, I would consider experimenting with different layouts, you don't necessarily want people to recognize that you designed a site the second they open the page. Some people are aiming at differentiation, they want their site to stand out, not blend in with the rest.

I prefer to keep business talk off of forums and the internet in general, but when it's brought here, I do have to defend myself and my business.

If laydoutatthepark.com wanted differentiation, to stand out, to not blend in, why did they pick green and yellow as their theme colors? Their competition (Gator Drag, same dates, well established as using green/yellow) uses the same colors/theme. I can't tell you how many people have brought that to my attention.

Problems with anything should have been brought to my attention via email or phone. Posting on a public message boards before any problems could even be resolved or talked about is uncalled for. Since you brought it here, I feel I have the right to say what i've just said. If anyone feels like they need to contact me, just shoot me an email and we can finish discussing this, there. shelly@graphicdisorder.com

Thank you.

i'm not down-grading your design at all. i have to give graphic-disorder props, they are the major player in the graphic/web design industry for custom truck/suspension/aftermarket products.

i just assumed that a company of their "advertised caliber" would produce several different styles throughout their work. anyways, good job on the metal-werx site!

That's interesting, since a lot of the members of this site discuss business matters very frequently. There have been countless threads concerning suspension shops that have hacked up vehicles and businesses that don't live up to their end of the bargain or have horrible customer service. As far as I've seen, most members appreciate it, they consider it a kind of "BBB" for custom vehicle enthusiasts. You're dealing in the same industry, so why get your feathers ruffled and create a bogus profile on SSM just to respond? Last time I checked, I'm not a customer of yours and my opinions belong to me and me only. Your customer e mailed you to resolve the issue. Of course now you've gone and made more personal comments on a public forum, as you're so worried about, which I never pointed out anything that a random person off the street wouldn't have picked up. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to pick up the similarities.

I do have to say that I agree with Jeffrey and the others on how your templates start to look the same. I would also like to say that GD should be more careful on how they handle situations like this, as their are other graphic companies who are uprising in the business that could take over what GD started.

I would also agree that more originality needs to be taken into consideration with the designs GD produces. There is more than one site that utilizes flames and so forth as the main theme of the site. Check some websites that other competing companies have done and you will notice a lot more blending and theme based designs taking place.

For future reference though, unless GD would like to see their business drop like Enron, I would be more professional on how you adress problems like this in the future. It looks pretty bad on your businesses part on how you responded to the oppinions of this website.

I understand people know you for a certain style, Shelly, but unless you change your style with the change of whats in, eventually your style will no longer be enough to take care of your customers, and they will want more.

P.S. Your top banner image with linking has a noticeable flat edge that does not blend smoothly. The phone number also looks a bit blurry IMO. The phrase below the large MetalWerx name is also a bit hard to read and scrunched. Just things to take into consideration/helpful criticism.

WELL NO TO PEE ON ANYBODYS CERAL.BUT I LOOKED AT BOTH GRAPHIC DISORDER AND KUTTING EDGE GRAPHIX.I CHOSE KUTTING EDGE GRAPHIX BECAUSE THEY HAVE MORE OF AN INDIVIDUAL OUTCOME ON THERE SITES.ROBBIE HAS BEEN SUPER GOOD TO ME ON THE SITE THAT HE DESIGNED AND CHANGED ANYTHING I DIDNT LIKE.
TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST WITH YOU,THERE WASNT MUCH THAT I WANTED TO CHANGE.NEVER DID HE ACT AGGRAVATED WITH ME.I WAS CALLIN HIM AND EMAILING HIM QUITE A BIT AT FIRST.ROBBIE AND HIS STAFF ACTED IN A VERY PROFEESIONAL MANNER.AS FAR AS WEB DEVELOPMENT KUTTING EDGE GRAPHIX WILL BE MY 1ST AND ONLY CHOICE.AS FAR AS THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE 2 SITES,IT IS VERY APPARENT.LOOK AT THE FLAMES.THEY ARE THE SAME.THERE ARE OTHER PROJECTS G/D HAS DONE THAT HAVE THE SAME FLAMES BUT I WILL LEAVE THAT ALONE.THIS IS JUST MY 2 CENTS AND SORRY IF I OFFEND ANYONE

i think someone who is looking at having a site designed definitely wants it to be original and stand out from the other similar companies. this is the design that i showed to TJKustomz (TC29720).

this was a quick 1-2 hour design. but to me, this is different than what either companies produce, but it's not usually up to the designers on how the final product will be. the customer has the final decision!
